Looking for answers to some questions about getting dental implants? We’ve most likely addressed such questions in the past. Check out our answers to some frequently asked questions below that we’ve gathered for your convenience:

What are dental implants?

A permanent dental appliance designed to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are essentially titanium screw shaped inserts that the body accepts and gets integrated into the jawbone. This serves the same function as the “root” anchoring a crown just below the surface of the gums.

When properly fabricated and surgically installed, dental implants mimic the form and function of natural teeth minus the pressure and discomfort associated with other alternatives -dental bridges, dentures, etc.

How do dental implants compare with other treatments for replacing missing teeth?

Dental implants are generally superior to many of its counterparts; dentures for one thing tend to make people feel old and can be a source of great embarrassment as it does have the tendency to slip and fall off. Dental implants on the other hand are permanent and surgically installed beneath the gums. Over time, the implants fuses with the jaw bones making it as strong and durable as natural teeth. The same thing cannot be said about most other teeth loss options in the dental practice.

Are you an ideal candidate for dental implants?

Dental implants is an option for anyone struggling with tooth loss which can occur as a result of an accident or oral disease. That said, patients must have adequate jaw bone density to accommodate the implants. If the latter is inadequate, bone can be grafted from other areas of the body.

Is it expensive?

The cost of dental implants can vary depending on your individual circumstances and any additional procedures required. The value is just not in the initial treatment cost, but the long term enjoyment of function, comfort and aesthetics. At Dentist & Co, our investment in technology allows us to perform a more accurate, efficient and pain-free process, not only resulting in a better treatment experience, but a much LOWER COST.
